The Hawke Vantage IR 3-9x50 Mil Dot (Model 14230) is a variable-power hunting riflescope built on a 1-inch mono-tube chassis. Designed for versatile target acquisition across rimfire, centrebore, and airgun platforms, it features an H2 optical system with 11-layer fully multi-coated lenses and a 50 mm objective lens for increased light transmission in low-light environments. Aiming is supported by a glass-etched Second Focal Plane (SFP) classic Mil Dot reticle with dual red and green illumination across five brightness levels, powered by an included CR2032 coin cell battery.

Key Features

  • Illuminated Mil-Dot Reticle: Glass-etched reticle offering 5 red and 5 green rheostat brightness settings, as well as an unilluminated black reticle mode.
  • Durable Mono-Tube Chassis: Built from nitrogen-purged aluminium to ensure waterproof, fog-proof, and shockproof performance rated for all calibres.
  • Capped Low-Profile Turrets: Provides 1/4 MOA click values with a broad 90 MOA total adjustment range for both elevation and windage.
  • Low-Light Optical Performance: Equipped with an 11-layer fully multi-coated 50 mm objective lens and a fast-focus eyebell for clear edge-to-edge viewing.

Who is the Hawke Vantage IR 3-9x50 for?

  • General pest control and vermin shooters — benefits from this riflescope's 498 g lightweight 1-inch mono-tube chassis and broad 90 MOA elevation and windage adjustment range when mounting to rimfire or centerfire field rifles.
  • Medium-range hunters — relies on this variable-power riflescope's 3–9x magnification range and large 50 mm light-gathering objective lens to maintain target clarity across operational distances from 25 m to 300 m with fixed 91 m parallax.

Less suitable for: Close-range shooting under 25 m to 50 m where an Adjustable Objective (AO) riflescope is required to eliminate parallax error, or long-range shooting beyond 400 m where a high-magnification optic with exposed tactical turrets is necessary.
