The Norma Oryx .300 Winchester Magnum 180gr ammunition delivers deep-penetrating terminal performance tailored for medium to large game hunting. Loaded with an 11.7-gram bonded soft-point projectile, this cartridge features a chemical bond between the lead core and gilding metal jacket to prevent separation upon impact. With a factory-rated muzzle velocity of 890 m/s (2,920 fps) and muzzle energy of 4,634 J from a 660 mm test barrel, it is engineered to achieve 90% to 99% weight retention while expanding uniformly across practical hunting ranges.

Key Features

• Core-to-Jacket Bonding: Prevents core separation on heavy impact, ensuring high structural integrity and deep penetration through tough muscle and bone.
• High Weight Retention: Retains 90% to 99% of its original 180-grain weight to minimise fragmentation and create a consistent wound channel.
• Controlled Expansion: Incorporates a thin forward jacket with internal splitting zones designed for reliable, uniform mushrooming at varying impact velocities.
• Premium Reloadable Components: Built with high-grade, Boxer-primed brass cases suitable for reloading.

Who is the Norma Oryx 300 Win Mag 180gr for?

• Sambar and Red Deer Hunters: Requires deep, bone-breaking penetration in thick Australian bush, which this 180-grain .300 Win Mag hunting ammunition delivers through its bonded core design and 4,634 J of muzzle energy.
• Large Feral Boar and Scrub Bull Hunters: Needs heavy knockdown power and structural projectile integrity to penetrate heavy hide and shoulder bone, delivered by this 11.7-gram bonded soft-point load that retains up to 99% of its mass at an 890 m/s muzzle velocity.

Less suitable for: Long-range hunting past distances of 400 to 500 metres; shooters engaging targets beyond this threshold should transition to higher-BC, polymer-tipped boat-tail cartridges designed for extended trajectories.
