The Norma .308 Norma Magnum 180gr Oryx is a premium factory-loaded rifle cartridge designed for hunting medium to large game. Featuring a 180-grain (11.7-gram) bonded semi-jacketed soft point bullet, it delivers reliable expansion and deep penetration across standard hunting ranges. Loaded in reloadable Boxer-primed brass cases, this ammunition produces a muzzle velocity of 900 m/s (2,953 fps) and a muzzle energy of 4,739 J (3,484 ft-lb) from a standard 660 mm test barrel. It is engineered exclusively for rifles chambered in .308 Norma Magnum (7.62×65mmBR).

Key Features

• Bonded Core Construction: Chemical bonding between the lead core and jacket eliminates jacket separation upon impact, achieving weight retention exceeding 90% (up to 99% under standard field conditions).
• Controlled Terminal Expansion: Built with a thin forward jacket and internal splitting zones for rapid mushrooming, supported by a thickened rear jacket wall to ensure deep, straight-line penetration.
• Optimised Ballistics: Features a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.354 and a Most Recommended Distance (MRD) of 179 metres (196 yards), maintaining 2,494 J of energy at 300 metres.
• Premium Reloadable Components: Assembled with factory-new Norma brass cases and non-corrosive Boxer primers in a standard 20-round packaging format.

Who is the Norma 308 Norma Mag 180gr Oryx 20 Pack for?

• Large Deer Hunters — Delivers controlled expansion and deep terminal penetration on Sambar, Red, Rusa, and Fallow deer, backed by 4,739 J of muzzle energy and a 180-grain bonded bullet travelling at 900 m/s.
• Large Feral Game Hunters — Provides the high residual weight retention and straight-line penetration necessary for heavy feral boars and scrub bulls, anchored by a Most Recommended Distance zero of 179 metres.

Less suitable for: Dedicated ultra-long-range shooting past 400 to 500 metres, where high-BC polymer-tipped or match-style hunting bullets maintain higher velocity and flatter trajectories than a 0.354 G1 profile, or light varmint hunting (foxes and rabbits), which is better served by lighter, rapidly fragmenting .22 to 6mm calibres.
