The Norma 308 Win 180gr Vulkan 20 Pack is centrefire rifle ammunition engineered for short- to medium-range hunting of medium-to-large game. Built with an inverted, folded-tip copper jacket protecting a lead core, it delivers rapid mushrooming and immediate hydrostatic shock upon impact without suffering tip deformation from magazine recoil or rough chambering. Fired from a 610 mm test barrel, the 180-grain projectile produces a muzzle velocity of 796 m/s (2,612 fps) and 3,707 Joules (2,726 ft-lbs) of muzzle energy, retaining 2,249 Joules of energy at 200 metres.

Key Features

• Inverted Jacket Tip: Front jacket wall folds over the lead core tip to prevent bullet flattening and deformation during magazine recoil and cycling.
• Rapid Energy Transfer: Thin forward jacket structure initiates rapid expansion and mushrooming on impact for high stopping power.
• Optimised Trajectory: Engineered for an optimal Most Recommended Distance (MRD) zero of 157 metres, maintaining 620 m/s velocity at 200 metres.
• Calibre Compatibility: Suited for bolt-action, straight-pull, and semi-automatic rifles chambered in .308 Winchester.

Who is the Norma 308 Win 180gr Vulkan for?

• Sambar, Red, and Fallow Deer Hunters — Delivers 2,249 Joules of energy at 200 metres from a heavy 180-grain soft-point projectile, ensuring immediate knockdown and massive tissue disruption at typical bushland stalking distances.
• Wild Boar and Feral Pig Hunters — Generates 3,707 Joules of muzzle energy combined with a 0.315 G1 ballistic coefficient projectile that expands rapidly through a thin forward jacket wall to anchor heavy, fast-moving game instantly.

Less suitable for: Long-range hunting beyond 250 to 300 metres where a high-BC boat-tail or polymer-tipped cartridge is required to minimise drop and wind drift, or thick-skinned dangerous game requiring deep straight-line penetration through heavy bone, where a bonded-core bullet is better suited.
