The Norma Tipstrike Silencer Series .30-06 Springfield 170gr centrefire ammunition is engineered to maximise terminal ballistics from short-barrel rifles and suppressed platforms. Factory-loaded with specialised, fast-burning propellants, this cartridge achieves complete powder burn within shorter barrel lengths to reduce muzzle flash and optimize ballistic efficiency. The 170-grain polymer-tipped bullet features a mechanical lead lock, delivering a controlled delay upon impact followed by violent expansion and high energy transfer for hunting medium-to-large game.

Key Features

• Short-Barrel Propellant Formulation: Loaded with quick-burning powder optimised for full combustion in barrels under 61 cm (24 in), achieving 2,740 fps out of a 20-inch (50.8 cm) test barrel.
• Reduced Muzzle Flash: Complete burn inside shorter carbine barrels minimises unburnt powder residue, barrel fouling, and blast signature.
• Tipstrike Terminal Performance: Features a polymer tip and mechanical lead lock that initiates rapid, devastating expansion to deliver 2,833 ft-lbs of muzzle energy on impact.
• Aerodynamic Profile: Engineered with a 0.454 G1 ballistic coefficient and a sectional density of 0.256 for stable mid-range trajectory.

Who is the Norma Tipstrike Silencer .30-06 Springfield 170gr for?

• Hunters using short-barrel .30-06 carbine rifles — relies on fast-burning propellant formulated to achieve full velocity of 2,740 fps and 2,833 ft-lbs of energy out of short 20-inch (50.8 cm) barrels under 24 inches without severe muzzle blast.
• Medium-to-large game hunters targeting wild boar and red deer — utilizes a 170-grain polymer-tipped Tipstrike projectile engineered for rapid energy release and immediate knockdown power across 0 to 300-metre hunting distances.

Less suitable for: Long-range engagements beyond 400 to 500 metres or full-length rifle barrels exceeding 61 cm (24 inches), where high-BC bonded long-range ammunition or standard-propellant factory loads perform better; and dangerous or heavy-boned game requiring deep penetration and high weight retention, which require heavily bonded or solid monolithic hunting projectiles.
