What is the primary benefit of the SPCE cutting edge design when hunting medium to large game?

The signature Soft Point Cutting Edge features an abrupt shoulder that mechanically locks the lead core to the gilding metal jacket to prevent separation upon impact. On game, this sharp shoulder acts as a hole punch through hide and tissue, creating a clean entry hole and distinct blood trails for easier tracking.

What are the recommended operating distances for the S&B 180 Grain SPCE projectiles?

These bullets are built primarily for short-to-medium-range stalking and forest hunting within 0 to 250 metres. Due to their modest G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.353 and blunt nose profile, velocity sheds quickly beyond 300 metres, making aerodynamic boat-tail or polymer-tipped projectiles a better choice for long-range target applications.

Do I need to present a firearms license to purchase these reloading projectiles in Australia?

Yes, although loose projectiles are inert metal components containing no primers or gunpowder, their sale, shipping, and possession are strictly regulated under Australian state and territory firearms laws. XHunter requires verification of a valid firearms license before completing the sale and dispatch of these reloading components.

.30 Cal Bullets - S&B V339722

The Sellier & Bellot .30 Calibre 180 Grain SPCE (Soft Point Cutting Edge) Bullets are component reloading projectiles designed for hunting medium to large game. Featuring a diameter of 0.308 inches (7.62 mm) and a mass of 180 grains (11.7 grams), these unprimed and uncharged component bullets are built for handloading standard .30-calibre rifle cartridges. The distinct cutting edge profile incorporates a mechanical shoulder ridge between the jacket and the exposed lead core to control mushrooming while punching a clean entry hole through hide and tissue.

Cut-Through Shoulder Ridge: An abrupt cutting edge locks the lead core mechanically to the CuZn 10 gilding metal jacket to reduce the risk of core-jacket separation upon impact.
Clean Wound Channel: The shoulder ring punches a round, distinct entry hole through hide to produce reliable, unsealed blood trails compared to standard round-nose soft points.
Ballistic Profile: Engineered for short-to-medium-range stability, offering a sectional density of 0.271 lb/in² and a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.353 (G7: 0.176).
Calibre Compatibility: Suits standard .308 bore centerfire rifle cases, including .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, and .300 Winchester Magnum handloads.

Who is the Sellier & Bellot .30 Cal 180 Grain SPCE Bullets 100 Pack for?

Handloaders developing medium to large game hunting loads — requires a 0.308-inch diameter, 180-grain projectile that matches common load recipes for .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, and .300 Winchester Magnum cases, packaged in a 100-count reloading box.
Hunters targeting wild pigs, red deer, fallow deer, and sambar at short to medium distances — relies on this 30 caliber reloading bullet's G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.353 and cutting-edge soft point design to maintain mass retention and punch distinct, trackable entry channels within a 0 to 250-metre engagement range.

Less suitable for: Long-range shooting beyond 300 metres, where aerodynamic boat-tail spitzer or polymer-tipped projectiles with higher ballistic coefficients serve better to resist velocity drop; and thick-skinned or dangerous game, where bonded-core or monolithic copper projectiles are better suited to prevent core fragmentation than cup-and-core soft points.
