The Sellier & Bellot .243 Winchester FMJ 80 Grain cartridge (Product Code: V330762) is engineered specifically for rifle target shooting, zeroing, and range training drills. Built with a solid lead core and a CuZn 10 tombac metallic jacket, this non-expanding full metal jacket projectile produces a flat trajectory with a high muzzle velocity of 985 m/s (3,232 fps) and 2,523 J of muzzle energy from a standard 600 mm test barrel. Designed to feed reliably across bolt-action and repeating rifles chambered in .243 Winchester, it provides predictable downrange ballistics with a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.263 and an overall cartridge length of 67.00 mm.

Key Features

• Non-Expanding FMJ Profile: Constructed with a 80-grain solid lead core encapsulated in a tombac jacket (Bullet #2430) for smooth cycling, clean target punching, and minimal barrel fouling.
• High-Velocity Ballistics: Achieves a muzzle speed of 985 m/s, yielding downrange velocities of 859 m/s at 100 m, 741 m/s at 200 m, 633 m/s at 300 m, and 534 m/s at 400 m.
• Predictable Trajectory: Factory calculated for a Most Recommended Distance (MRD) zero of 191 m; when zeroed at 100 m, it experiences -8.4 cm of drop at 200 m, -34.8 cm at 300 m, and -86.0 cm at 400 m.
• Target-Optimised Retention: Maintains 1,042 J of energy at 300 m and 742 J at 400 m to provide clear feedback on steel and paper targets.
• Packaging: Supplied in convenient 20-round boxes, weighing approximately 0.43 kg per box.

Who is the S&B Sellier & Bellot 243 Win 80 Grain Fmj Ammo 20 Rd for?

• Target shooters practicing with 243 Winchester rifles — Fires a flat-shooting 80-grain projectile at a high muzzle velocity of 985 m/s, delivering manageable recoil and reliable feeding for high-volume paper or steel practice without rapid copper fouling.
• Shooters sighting-in or running drills at distances up to 400 metres — Leverages an aerodynamic G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.263 and a predictable factory drop of -86.0 cm at 400 m (when zeroed at 100 m), providing consistent trajectory data across extended range sessions packaged in 20 rounds per box.

Less suitable for: Medium-to-large game hunting, because non-expanding full metal jacket projectiles do not deform or create an ethical terminal wound channel; hunters require expanding soft point (SP) or polymer-tipped centrefire rifle ammunition. It is also incompatible with non-.243 Winchester chambers, requiring dedicated cartridges for rifles chambered in 6mm Creedmoor, 6mm ARC, or 6mm Remington.
