The Sellier & Bellot .308 Winchester 180 Grain SBT Sierra GameKing ammunition delivers heavy-impact kinetic energy and controlled terminal expansion for medium to large game hunting. Loaded with the Sierra GameKing Spitzer Boat Tail projectile, this factory cartridge leaves a standard 23.5-inch test barrel at a muzzle velocity of 2,474 fps and generates 2,445 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. The streamlined boat tail profile produces a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.434 (G7 0.218), sustaining 1,455 ft-lbs of energy at 300 yards to ensure dependable stopping power across typical hunting distances.

Key Features

• Sierra GameKing SBT Bullet: Combines a traditional soft-point lead tip with a tapered boat tail base to minimize aerodynamic drag and resist crosswind drift.
• High Sectional Density: The 180-grain bullet features a sectional density of 0.271 lb/in², driving straight-line penetration through heavy muscle and bone.
• Controlled Terminal Performance: Expands reliably at downrange velocities above 1,700–1,800 fps while maintaining bullet weight retention.
• Standard Chamber Compatibility: Engineered to an overall cartridge length of 2.799 inches (71.10 mm) for smooth feeding in .308 Winchester and 7.62×51mm bolt-action or lever-action rifles.

Who is the Sellier & Bellot .308 Win 180 Grain Sierra GameKing Ammunition for?

• Australian sambar and red deer hunters — Requires heavy bone-cracking penetration at moderate stalking ranges, which this .308 Winchester hunting ammunition provides via a 180-grain projectile delivering 2,070 ft-lbs of retained energy at 100 yards and 1,741 ft-lbs at 200 yards.
• Feral boar and scrub bull hunters — Needs immediate tissue destruction and high structural mass to pass through thick hide, supported by this cartridge's 2,445 ft-lbs of muzzle energy and a 0.271 lb/in² sectional density that ensures deep, straight-line terminal penetration.

Less suitable for: Long-range shots beyond 400 yards where downrange velocity drops below 1,737 fps and bullet expansion becomes marginal, or open-country hunting at 300+ yards where lighter 150-grain or 165-grain .308 loads provide flatter trajectories and higher velocities.
