What is the effective downrange velocity and energy of the S&B 100 Grain SP at 300 metres?

At 300 metres, this 100-grain soft point projectile retains an impact energy of approximately 912 ft-lb. Because S&B soft-point expansion relies on velocities staying above roughly 1,800 to 1,900 fps, this round is ideally suited for ethical medium-game hunting at distances inside 250 to 300 metres before impact velocities drop below reliable mushrooming thresholds.

What firearms license and legal compliance do I need to purchase this .243 Winchester ammunition in Australia?

Because ammunition purchases are heavily regulated across Australia at the state and territory level, you must present a valid Category B firearms licence that matches the .243 Winchester calibre at the time of purchase or collection. Additionally, due to dangerous goods transport laws, it cannot travel via standard Australia Post and must be shipped via certified Class 1.4S couriers or collected via Click & Collect.

Is this 100 Grain soft point ammunition suitable for larger Australian game like Sambar deer?

No, state game regulations and hunting guidelines recommend stepping up to larger centrefire calibres like .270 Win or .308 Win for thick-skinned large game such as Sambar deer, water buffalo, or scrub bulls. This 100-grain load is engineered specifically for medium game like wild pigs, goats, and fallow or chital deer, as well as pest control.

.243 Win Ammo - Sellier Bellot V335512

The Sellier & Bellot .243 Win 100 Grain SP (50-Round Bulk Pack) delivers controlled projectile expansion and deep penetration for centrefire bolt-action and single-shot rifles chambered in .243 Winchester. Built around a 100-grain (6.5 g) semi-jacketed soft point bullet with an exposed lead tip, this factory load is engineered for uniform mushrooming and maximum energy transfer on medium game. Loaded into reloadable, Boxer-primed brass cases with an overall cartridge length of 2.673 inches (67.90 mm), it achieves a factory-tested muzzle velocity of 2,854 fps (870 m/s) and a muzzle energy of 1,809 ft-lb (2,453 J) from a standard 23.5-inch (600 mm) barrel. The 50-round packaging format provides an extended ammunition supply for field harvesting and pre-hunt rifle zeroing.

Key Features

Controlled Mushrooming Profile: Encased in a CuZn 10 alloy jacket surrounding a lead core, the exposed soft point deforms consistently upon impact to ensure wide frontal expansion and high retained weight.
Centrefire Ballistic Efficiency: Features a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.315 (G7: 0.158) and a sectional density of 0.242 lb/in², producing downrange energy figures of 1,456 ft-lb at 100 yards and 1,159 ft-lb at 200 yards.
Premium Reloadable Components: Assembled with Boxer-primed, non-corrosive factory brass casings designed to withstand standard centrefire chamber pressures and facilitate reloading.
50-Round Value Format: Supplied in a bulk 50-round carton with a total carry weight of 1.30 kg, offering higher volume per unit than standard 20-round boxes.

Who is the S&B Sellier & Bellot 243 Win 100 Grain Sp Ammo 50 Rd Bulk Pack for?

Medium-game hunters — requires the 1,809 ft-lb of muzzle energy and heavy 100 grains soft point bullet provided by this .243 Winchester soft point ammunition to achieve reliable terminal expansion and clean ethical takedowns on wild pigs, goats, and fallow or chital deer.
Pest controllers — benefits from the 50 rounds bulk packaging and flat-shooting 2,854 fps muzzle velocity of this .243 Winchester soft point ammunition when managing high volumes of feral dogs and long-range varmints across open terrain.

Less suitable for: Large, thick-skinned species like Sambar deer, water buffalo, or scrub bulls where heavier centrefire calibres like .270 Win or .308 Win are required; strictly small vermin like rabbits and foxes where lighter 55 to 75 gr rapid-fragmentation loads are preferred; shots beyond 300 to 350 metres where impact velocity drops below the threshold for reliable soft-point mushroom expansion; or rifles chambered in 6mm Creedmoor or 6mm BR, as this round is strictly compatible with standard .243 Winchester chambers.
