What barrel twist rate is required to stabilize the S&B 100 Grain Soft Point bullets?

These 100-grain projectiles require a barrel twist rate of 1:10 or faster to ensure proper gyroscopic stability. Standard 1:12 or slower twist rate barrels generally will not stabilize this heavier-for-caliber 6mm projectile effectively.

What is the recommended maximum hunting range for these soft point bullets?

Ethical hunting distance is typically limited to 0 to approximately 400 yards. Reliable expansion requires an impact velocity above roughly 1,800 to 1,900 fps, which these bullets maintain within this standard working range when launched from typical .243 Winchester or 6mm Creedmoor velocities.

Do I need a firearms licence to purchase these reloading bullets in Australia?

Yes, because these are reloading component projectiles, state and territory firearms legislation in Australia may require you to hold an appropriate category firearms licence or reloading permit to purchase and receive them by mail.

What sizing dies or reloading accessories pair well with these 6mm bullets?

To ensure precise case resizing and crimping when working with .243 or similar rifle brass for these bullets, many handloaders pair their setup with precision reloading tools such as Redding match die sets or Lee factory crimp dies.

6mm Reloading Bullets - S&B V338422

The Sellier & Bellot 6mm Calibre 100 Grain Soft Point (SP) Bullets (100 Pack) are inert component projectiles designed for handloading rifle cartridges with standard 6mm or .243 in bore diameters, including .243 Winchester and 6mm Creedmoor. Constructed with an exposed lead core and a CuZn 30 brass semi-jacket, this 100-grain (6.5-gram) bullet measures approximately 1.018 in (25.86 mm) in length. It provides controlled terminal mushrooming and deep penetration on medium game while maintaining a consistent G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.315 for predictable trajectory and zeroing.

Key Features

Controlled Expansion: Semi-jacketed design with an exposed lead tip ensures reliable terminal expansion and weight retention on medium game.
Uniform Construction: Features a consistent CuZn 30 brass jacket and uniform lead core distribution for dependable handloading results across production batches.
Aerodynamic Profile: Delivers a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.315 and a sectional density of 0.242 lb/in² for stable flight characteristics.
Component Packaging: Supplied in retail boxes of 100 loose projectiles, weighing approximately 650 g per box.

Who is the Sellier & Bellot 6mm 100 Grain SP Bullets 100 Pack for?

Handloaders hunting medium game — Requires a heavy-for-calibre 100-grain bullet with a 0.242 lb/in² sectional density that delivers controlled expansion and penetration on feral goats, pigs, and deer within an ethical working range of 0 to ~400 yards.
Shooters loading range practice ammunition — Utilises this 6mm reloading bullet to build volume zeroing and training loads that match hunting ballistics using a cost-effective 100-pack component projectile with a 0.315 G1 ballistic coefficient.

Less suitable for: Rifles with slow barrel twist rates of 1:12" or slower, which fail to stabilise a 100-grain projectile and require lighter 55 to 80-grain flat-base bullets; and hunting applications extending beyond 400 yards where impact velocities drop below expansion thresholds, making low-drag polymer-tipped boat-tail hunting projectiles a better choice.
