The Sellier & Bellot 7mm (.284) 173 Grain SPCE (Semi-Jacketed Soft Point Cutting Edge) is an inert component projectile engineered for handloaders developing medium-to-large game ammunition. Manufactured under ordering code V338732 (internal bullet number 2932), this bullet combines a lead core with a specialised stepped jacket shoulder. This profile mechanises bullet expansion on impact while cleanly cutting hide and tissue, making it a reliable terminal component for calibres such as the 7x57mm Mauser, 7x64mm Brenneke, 7mm-08 Remington, and 7mm Remington Magnum.

• SPCE Cutting Edge Profile: Built with a stepped outer jacket shoulder that mechanically punches a distinct, circular entrance hole through hair and hide, keeping the wound channel open to facilitate traceable blood trails.
• Jacket-to-Core Mechanical Lock: The grooved cut-through shoulder locks the outer brass/copper jacket to the internal lead core, mitigating core-jacket separation and controlling frontal mushrooming for straight-line penetration.
• Clean Target Marking: The sharp jacket shoulder punches clean, circular holes in paper targets during load development, simplifying group measurement.
• Inert Reloading Component: Unprimed metallic component containing no powder charge or primer, requiring an appropriate Australian state or territory firearms licence (Category A/B) for purchase and possession.

Who is the S&B Sellier & Bellot 7mm Cal 173 Grain SPCE Cutting Edge Bullets 50 Pack for?

• Handloaders targeting wild boar and red deer — loads into standard 7mm rifle cartridges using a heavy 173-grain (11.2 g) weight that provides the momentum and controlled expansion needed to drive through tough tissue in woodland stalking conditions.
• Hunters tracking game in heavy bush — uses a mechanical cutting ring on this 7.25 mm (.284 in) diameter reloading bullet to shear hair and hide cleanly, creating an unsealed entrance wound designed to deliver distinct, visible blood trails.

Less suitable for: Long-range hunting beyond 300 metres, where the projectile's moderate 0.376 G1 ballistic coefficient and flat shoulder cause rapid velocity decay compared to sleek, high-BC polymer-tipped boat-tail spitzer bullets; it is also unsuitable for rifles with barrel twist rates slower than 1:9.5 inches, which lack the gyroscopic stability required for a 173-grain projectile.
