Will these 69-grain FMJ bullets stabilise properly in my .223 rifle?

These 69-grain projectiles require a faster barrel twist rate to achieve proper gyroscopic stability. They work exceptionally well in barrels with 1:7, 1:8, or 1:9 twist rates, but slower traditional varmint twists like 1:12 or 1:14 will fail to stabilise them and cause keyholing.

What is the effective operating range for target shooting with this Sellier & Bellot ammo?

This 69-grain load delivers reliable performance on paper and steel targets out to 600 metres, benefiting from an increased 0.387 G1 ballistic coefficient for better wind resistance. Beyond 600 metres, transonic velocity drop makes it preferable to switch to dedicated heavy match loads or larger calibres.

Are these brass cases suitable for handloading after factory firing?

Yes, these bulk packs feature high-quality CuZn 30 brass cases equipped with Boxer priming. They are completely non-corrosive and fully reloadable, making them a cost-effective option for shooters who process their own brass.

Can I use this FMJ ammunition for ethical hunting of medium game in Australia?

No, this product features a Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) design that does not reliably expand upon impact. Under Australian animal welfare codes and hunting regulations, standard FMJ ammunition is restricted or discouraged for medium and large game, requiring Soft Point or expanding polymer-tipped loads instead.

What documentation or licensing is required to purchase this ammunition in Australia?

Because ammunition is strictly regulated as a dangerous good across all Australian States and Territories, you must present a valid State or Territory Firearms Licence corresponding to .223 Remington or 5.56mm at the time of purchase. Delivery must also adhere to strict dangerous goods transport protocols.

223 Rem Ammo - Sellier & Bellot V342962

The Sellier & Bellot .223 Remington 69 Grain FMJ is centrefire rifle ammunition designed for high-volume target shooting, service rifle disciplines, and tactical training. Packaged in a 100-round bulk carton, this load features a 69-grain (4.50-gram) Full Metal Jacket projectile seated in a reloadable, Boxer-primed CuZn 30 brass case. Engineered for extended mid-range ballistics, it delivers a muzzle velocity of 880 m/s (2,887 fps) and a muzzle energy of 1,742 Joules from standard test barrels, providing a flatter trajectory and improved wind resistance over standard 55-grain loads.

Key Features

Aerodynamic Projectile: 69-grain FMJ bullet with a lead core and gilding metal jacket achieves a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.387 (0.189 G7) for stable flight.
Consistent Velocity: Produces a nominal muzzle velocity of 880 m/s and 1,742 Joules of muzzle energy for reliable cycling and predictable drop tables.
Reloadable Brass: CuZn 30 brass cases paired with non-corrosive Boxer primers ensure clean ignition and standard case longevity for reloading.
Smooth Feeding: Non-expanding FMJ profile feeds reliably across bolt-action, straight-pull, and pump-action rifle platforms without bullet tip deformation.
Bulk Packaging: Supplied in a 100-round carton, reducing per-round packaging waste during high-volume training sessions.

Who is the S&B Sellier & Bellot 223 Rem 69 Grain FMJ Ammo 100 Rd Bulk Pack for?

High-volume service rifle and tactical drill practitioners — feeds rifles featuring 1:7, 1:8, or 1:9 twist barrels using a 100-round bulk carton of centrefire rifle ammunition designed for rapid cycling and consistent chambering.
Mid-range target shooters — stabilises across paper and steel targets out to 600 metres using a heavy 69-grain projectile with a 0.387 G1 ballistic coefficient that leaves the muzzle at 880 m/s to resist crosswind deflection.

Less suitable for: Rifles with traditional 1:12 or 1:14 twist rates that fail to stabilise 69-grain projectiles (which require lighter 50 to 55 grain ammunition), target engagements beyond 600 metres that necessitate dedicated heavy match loads or larger calibres, and medium or large game hunting where animal welfare regulations require expanding soft point or polymer-tipped hunting projectiles instead of non-expanding FMJ rounds.
