How does the GPO Passion Mono 10x36 HD perform in low-light conditions compared to full-sized binoculars?

While the 36 mm objective lens and GPObright multi-layer lens coatings deliver an impressive 90% daylight light transmission, the 3.93 mm exit pupil means it is optimised for mid-to-long-range daylight observation. In extreme low-light or dusk conditions, a full-sized 42 mm or 50 mm binocular will provide superior light gathering.

Is the GPO Passion Mono 10x36 HD compatible with tripod mounting for extended glassing sessions?

No, this unit is designed strictly as a rapid-deployment handheld monocular weighing just 240 g. It does not feature a standard 1/4"-20 tripod thread interface or firearm-mounting capabilities, relying instead on its compact form factor and integrated lanyard loops for easy carry during mobile stalks.

Does this optic require any batteries or electrical compliance certifications for use in Australia?

The GPO Passion Mono 10x36 HD is a completely passive mechanical-optical unit requiring 0V and no batteries. Therefore, electrical compliance approvals like SAA/RCM and Australian 240V plug compatibility are entirely not applicable, making it completely reliable for remote outback use without power concerns.

10x36 HD Monocular - GPO Passion Mono M100

The GPO PASSION™ Mono 10x36 HD is a compact roof-prism monocular engineered for rapid-deployment, mid-to-long-range daylight observation. Built around a lightweight magnesium chassis encased in protective rubber armor, it combines high-definition glass elements with BaK-4 prisms and proprietary GPObright™ multi-layer coatings to achieve 90% daylight light transmission. Designed for completely passive, battery-free operation, it offers single-finger focusing via brass internal gearing for hunters, stalkers, and outdoor enthusiasts who require clear target identification without carrying full-sized optics.

Who is the GPO PASSION Mono 10x36 HD for?

Mobile stalkers and hunters — Delivers 10x magnification and a 36 mm objective lens in a 240 g pocket-sized hunting monocular, eliminating the weight and bulk of full-sized binocular chest harnesses during active pursuit.
Backpackers and hikers — Provides a wide 108 m at 1,000 m field of view in an ultra-compact 126 mm chassis, enabling rapid long-range terrain scouting without taking up critical pack capacity.

Less suitable for: Extreme low-light or dusk observation where the 3.93 mm exit pupil reaches its optical limit (larger 42 mm or 50 mm full-sized binoculars or dedicated thermal/night vision optics provide superior low-light gathering), hands-free viewing requiring a standard 1/4"-20 tripod interface, or tactical range estimation where dedicated reticle-equipped spotting monoculars are necessary.
