The Norma 308 Win 170gr Tipstrike Silencer 20 Pack (SKU: 20177522) is factory centerfire hunting ammunition engineered specifically for rifles with shortened barrels. Formulated under Norma’s Dedicated Hunting Silencer Series, this load utilises fast-burning propellants to achieve complete combustion within a 500 mm barrel length, delivering a muzzle velocity of 775 m/s and 3,303 Joules of muzzle energy. The polymer-tipped Tipstrike projectile features a mechanical lead-lock jacket designed to deliver rapid terminal expansion and deep penetration while mitigating the excessive muzzle blast, flash, and residue typical of standard loads fired through short barrels.

Key Features

• Short-Barrel Propellant Optimisation: Specially formulated fast-burning powder ensures full propellant burn within a 500 mm barrel, reducing muzzle flash and unburnt powder residue inside sound suppressors.
• Tipstrike Terminal Performance: Features an aggressive polymer tip for rapid expansion upon impact, backed by an internal mechanical lead-lock jacket to prevent core-jacket separation when striking heavy bone.
• Ballistic Efficiency: Produces a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.454 with a 170-grain (11.0 g) projectile, maintaining trajectory stability within short-to-medium hunting distances up to 300 metres.
• Visual Identification: Loaded in dark-tinted brass casings to provide rapid visual differentiation from conventional non-silencer ammunition.
• Standard Box Capacity: Packaged in standard 20-round boxes for field use.

Who is the Norma .308 Win 170gr Tipstrike Silencer for?

• Hunters using shortened rifle barrels with sound suppressors — achieves full powder burn and preserves a muzzle velocity of 775 m/s directly from a 500 mm barrel length, minimising unburnt powder residue and blast baffle wear inside suppressors.
• Medium to large game hunters requiring stopping power — relies on a 170-grain polymer-tipped bullet that generates 3,303 Joules of muzzle energy to deliver immediate terminal expansion and deep penetration on game such as wild boar and deer.
• Nocturnal hunters using night-vision optics — utilises fast-burning propellant engineered for 500 mm barrels to significantly reduce muzzle flash, preventing sensor white-out and preserving sight pictures when firing .308 Winchester hunting ammunition in the dark.

Less suitable for: Standard long-barrel rifles with barrel lengths of 61 cm or greater, where conventional non-silencer factory ammunition better matches the barrel geometry, or extreme long-range precision target shooting where match-grade target projectiles with ballistic coefficients higher than 0.454 are required.
