The Sellier & Bellot 20 Gauge 3" (20/76) Special Slug Magnum 21g ammunition delivers heavy-impact knockdown power tailored for 3-inch magnum smoothbore shotguns. Loaded with a 21-gram (approx. 324 grains) solid lead rifled slug, this cartridge achieves a high muzzle velocity of 560 m/s (~1,837 fps) to provide flatter downrange trajectories and greater kinetic energy than standard 2¾" (70 mm) loads. Each round integrates Sellier & Bellot's proprietary attached stabilizer base wad, maintaining aerodynamic stability and shot-to-shot consistency without requiring specialised sabot wadding.

Key Features

• Magnum Velocity: Achieves a muzzle velocity of 560 m/s (~1,837 fps), providing enhanced kinetic energy and a flatter trajectory over conventional 20-gauge field loads.
• Integrated Stabilizer Wad: Utilises an attached proprietary base wad designed to stabilise the 21 g solid lead projectile in flight, ensuring aerodynamic alignment primarily through smoothbore barrels.
• Solid Lead Slug Design: Features an engineered 21-gram single rifled projectile built for reliable terminal expansion and energy transfer on medium-to-large game.
• Magnum Brass Head: Built on a 76 mm (3-inch) shell with a 10.0 mm brass head height to ensure reliable feeding and extraction under magnum operating pressures.

Who is the Sellier & Bellot 20 Gauge 3" Special Slug Magnum Ammo for?

• Feral pig hunters using 20 gauge magnums — requires the 560 m/s muzzle velocity and heavy 21-gram lead slug payload of this 20-gauge cartridge to deliver decisive penetration and stopping power inside 100 metres.
• Medium game hunters using smoothbore shotguns — benefits from the integrated aerodynamic stabilizer wad built into this 20-gauge slug, allowing consistent flight stability and practical accuracy out to 80–100 metres without requiring a dedicated rifled barrel.

Less suitable for: Shotguns chambered in standard 65 mm (2½") or 70 mm (2¾") lengths, as firing 76 mm (3") magnum loads in shorter chambers causes dangerous pressure spikes. It is also less suitable for targeting game beyond roughly 80–100 metres, where velocity decay and drop make dedicated centrefire hunting rifles better suited for ethical harvesting.
