The Sellier & Bellot Corona 12 Gauge 2¾" (12/70) shotshell cartridge is engineered for medium-to-large game bird and small-to-medium mammal hunting. Featuring a 32-gram (approx. 1⅛ oz) payload of 4.0 mm lead shot (designated UK #BB / US #1), this load delivers balanced downrange energy and consistent shot density at a muzzle velocity of 385 m/s (approx. 1,263 fps). Each shell utilizes a protective plastic shot cup wad that shields pellets from bore friction deformation, paired with a 6-point star crimp on a standard 70 mm plastic hull with a brass-plated base for reliable cycling across break-action and modern repeating shotguns.

Key Features

• Protective Plastic Wad: Incorporates a plastic shot cup that limits bore friction and pellet deformation, yielding tighter pattern retention over distance.
• High-Velocity Game Load: Propels a 32 g payload to 385 m/s to provide hard-hitting kinetic energy on larger pest and game targets.
• Standard Chamber Profile: Loaded in a standard 70 mm (2¾") hull with a 6-point star crimp for consistent chambering and extraction.
• Substantial Pellet Diameter: Features 4.0 mm lead pellets suitable for anchoring tough quarry at standard sporting distances.

Who is the Sellier & Bellot Corona 12 Gauge 32g 4.0mm Shotshell for?

• Fox and feral hare hunters — Requires the deep penetration and kinetic energy delivered by heavy 4.0 mm shot travelling at a muzzle velocity of 385 m/s, providing clean lethality on medium ground mammals within practical 20- to 40-metre field distances using this 12-gauge ammunition.
• Heavy geese and waterfowl hunters operating where lead shot is permitted — Benefits from the balanced 32-gram payload and protective plastic shot cup wad in this lead shotshell, which maintains pattern integrity and sufficient downrange energy transfer for taking large game birds.

Less suitable for: Engagement ranges under 15–20 metres where patterns remain overly concentrated, shots beyond 40–45 metres where 32g pellet density disperses too widely for reliable lethal coverage (requiring heavier payload loads or tighter choke setups), small upland game (which require smaller #6 to #8 shot sizes to prevent meat damage), thick game like pigs (which require dedicated buckshot or solid slugs), or vintage shotguns chambered exclusively for shorter 65 mm (2½") hulls (which require dedicated short-chamber low-pressure shotshells).
