The Sellier & Bellot 6.5×52 R SP (Semi-Jacketed Soft Point) 117 Grain Ammunition provides a factory-loaded centerfire cartridge for rifles chambered in 6.5×52R, the European designation for .25-35 Winchester (.25-35 WCF). Each cartridge features a 117-grain (7.60 g) semi-jacketed projectile with an exposed lead nose and a CuZn 10 gilding metal jacket, loaded into a reloadable, Boxer-primed brass case. Measured from a 600 mm test barrel, this load generates a muzzle velocity of 650 m/s (2,133 fps) and a muzzle energy of 1,606 J (1,184 ft-lb), providing controlled expansion and reliable cycling for classic lever-action rifles and European break-action combination firearms.

Key Features

• Controlled Terminal Expansion: The semi-jacketed soft point bullet uses an exposed lead core to initiate uniform mushrooming on impact while retaining bullet weight for effective penetration.
• Factory Support for Legacy Rifles: Eliminates the need for custom handloading in vintage .25-35 Winchester lever-action rifles and European Drillings or Vierlings chambered in 6.5×52R.
• Reloadable Brass Cases: Loaded into standard Boxer-primed, non-corrosive brass cartridge cases with an overall cartridge length (OAL) of 64.50 mm.
• Optimised Moderate-Range Trajectory: Engineered around an individual cartridge weight of 17.8 g with a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.223 and a calculated Most Recommended Distance (MRD) zero of 127 metres.

Who is the S&B Sellier & Bellot 6.5x52r 117 Grain Sp Ammo 20 Rd for?

• Hunters targeting small deer, feral goats, and pigs — requires an effective working range within 150 metres, utilising a 117-grain soft point projectile delivering 1,606 J of muzzle energy and 1,093 J at 100 metres from vintage 6.5×52R chamberings.
• Pest controllers targeting foxes and wild dogs — relies on a 650 m/s muzzle velocity from a dedicated 6.5×52R centerfire rifle load that keeps classic lever-action rifles and European break-action combination guns operational without custom handloading.

Less suitable for: Engagements beyond 150 metres where kinetic energy drops below 1,000 J (falling to 710 J at 200 m with a -29.7 cm drop from a 100 m zero), or targeting larger game species; high-velocity modern calibres such as .243 Winchester or 6.5 Creedmoor are better suited for extended distances. Additionally, this rimmed cartridge is completely incompatible with military surplus rifles chambered for the rimless 6.5×52mm Carcano cartridge.
