The Sellier & Bellot 6.5x55 SE SP (part number V330602) is factory centre-fire hunting ammunition loaded with a 131-grain (8.50-gram) semi-jacketed soft point projectile. Engineered for short-to-medium range encounters from 0 to 250 metres, it produces a muzzle velocity of 793 m/s (~2,601 fps) and delivers 2,673 Joules (~1,972 ft-lbs) of muzzle energy. The exposed lead nose mushrooms upon target impact to maximize terminal wound channels, while the metallic outer sleeve retains structural integrity through tissue and moderate bone to ensure sufficient penetration on medium-framed game.

Key Features

• Controlled Terminal Expansion: Features an exposed soft lead core with a metallic jacket that initiates reliable mushrooming upon impact for rapid energy transfer.
• High Weight Retention: Designed to penetrate tissue and moderate bone without excessive fragmentation.
• Ballistic Profile: Engineered with a flat-base soft point projectile delivering a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.389.
• Reloadable Components: Built with non-corrosive boxer primers and reloadable brass casings in 20-round packaging weighing approximately 0.52 kg to 0.53 kg per box.

Who is the Sellier & Bellot 6.5x55 131 Grain SP Ammo for?

• Medium deer species hunters — Pursuing fallow, chital, hog deer, and red deer hinds benefit from this 6.5x55mm soft point hunting ammunition, which delivers 2,673 Joules of muzzle energy at 793 m/s to provide controlled terminal expansion and adequate penetration through tissue and bone.
• Invasive medium-game hunters — Targeting feral pigs, goats, and wild dogs within 250 metres leverage this 131-grain semi-jacketed soft point cartridge for reliable knockdown power and mushrooming upon impact.

Less suitable for: Long-range shooting beyond 300 metres, where the 0.389 G1 ballistic coefficient of this conventional soft point experiences rapid velocity decay and aerodynamic drift (match-grade boat-tail or high-BC polymer-tipped hunting rounds fit that situation better), large heavy quarry such as sambar stags or scrub bulls requiring heavier 156-grain or bonded projectiles, or rifles chambered in alternative 6.5mm cartridges such as 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, or .260 Remington.
