The Sellier & Bellot 7x57R SPCE 173gr (Model V331042) is factory-loaded hunting ammunition designed specifically for rimmed rifle chambers. Featuring a 173-grain (11.20 g) Semi-Jacketed Soft Point Cutting Edge projectile, this cartridge achieves a muzzle velocity of 725 m/s and delivers 2,944 J of muzzle energy from a standard 600 mm test barrel. The bullet architecture combines an exposed lead core with a CuZn 10 brass jacket and an integrated circumferential cutting shoulder. This profile mechanistically locks the jacket to the core for uniform expansion while shearing distinct entrance wounds to facilitate clear blood tracking in the field.

Key Features

• Cutting Edge Architecture: Built with a sharp circumferential shoulder that cuts a clean, open hole through hide rather than stretching tissue, assisting in visible blood trails.
• Jacket Retention: The CuZn 10 brass jacket mechanically locks to the lead core via the cutting groove, preventing jacket separation upon impact for controlled mushrooming.
• Reloadable Components: Loaded in premium reloadable factory brass cases fitted with non-corrosive standard Boxer primers.
• Optimised Trajectory: Engineered around a manufacturer Most Recommended Distance (MRD) zero of 148 metres, maintaining 1,895 J of energy at 200 metres.

Who is the S&B Sellier & Bellot 7x57r Rimmed 173 Grain Spce Cutting Edge Ammo 20 Rd for?

• Break-action combination and single-shot rifle hunters — Requiring rimmed 7x57mmR cartridge dimensions with a 77.00 mm overall length that ensure reliable mechanical extraction in break-action combination guns, Drillings, and Kipplauf rifles.
• Medium game woodland hunters — Delivering 2,944 J of muzzle energy and 1,895 J of retained energy at 200 metres from a heavy 173-grain bullet, which provides the penetration required for fallow, red, and chital deer, feral pigs, and goats inside a 250-metre envelope.

Less suitable for: Long-range shooting beyond 250 metres where the G1 0.376 ballistic coefficient yields significant trajectory drop (-65.6 cm at 300 metres), making a sleeker, high-BC boat-tail hunting cartridge better suited; it is also completely incompatible with standard rimless 7x57mm Mauser chambers, which require a dedicated rimless bolt-action load.
