The Sellier & Bellot .30-06 Springfield 180 gr SBT Sierra GameKing (Model: V331732) is a factory-loaded centrefire rifle cartridge engineered for hunting medium-to-large game. Built with a 180-grain (11.70 g) Sierra GameKing Spitzer Boat Tail projectile, this round combines an aerodynamic boat-tail profile with a traditional soft-point lead tip. From a standard 23.5-inch test barrel, the cartridge produces a muzzle velocity of 2,579 fps (786 m/s) and 2,657 ft-lbs (3,614 J) of muzzle energy. The combination of an aerodynamic form factor (ballistic coefficient G1: 0.434, G7: 0.218) and high sectional density (0.271 lb/in²) delivers deep penetration, controlled expansion, and sustained downrange velocity.

Key Features

• Sierra GameKing SBT Bullet: Employs a match-grade boat-tail design coupled with an expanding soft spitzer point to minimise aerodynamic drag and provide reliable terminal expansion on thick-skinned game.
• Reloadable Brass Cases: Loaded in standard factory brass casings with non-corrosive Boxer primers to support field reliability and handloading reuse.
• Downrange Terminal Ballistics: Retains 2,183 fps and 1,904 ft-lbs of energy at 200 yards, maintaining 1,329 ft-lbs of energy at 400 yards (-35.9-inch drop from a 100-yard zero).
• Factory Packaging: Supplied in boxes of 20 rounds, with 20 boxes per master case (27 lb total case weight).

Who is the S&B Sellier & Bellot 30-06 Springfield 180 Grain Sbt Sierra Boat Tail Ammo 20 Rd for?

• Sambar and Red deer hunters — requires high energy retention and deep tissue penetration, delivered by this 30-06 Springfield hunting ammunition through its heavy 180-grain projectile and 2,657 ft-lbs of muzzle energy.
• Feral pig and large pest hunters — handles heavy-bodied feral targets under field conditions using a 0.308-inch diameter bullet driven at 2,579 fps to maintain over 1,300 ft-lbs of kinetic energy past 400 yards.

Less suitable for: Long-range engagements beyond 400 to 500 yards where velocity drops toward terminal expansion limits (a high-BC bonded or polymer-tipped match-hunting bullet load is better suited), or small game and light varmint control (lighter 130 to 150-grain varmint loads provide flatter trajectories and less pelt damage). This ammunition is strictly incompatible with firearms chambered in .308 Winchester or .300 Win Mag.
