Are these S&B .257 bullets compatible with standard 6.5mm European rifle barrels?

No, despite the European designation of the 6.5x52R cartridge, these bullets feature a precise .257-inch diameter which is distinct from standard 6.5mm bores that typically require a .264-inch projectile. They are engineered strictly for .257-inch diameter bores such as the .25-35 Winchester and specific 6.5x52R chambers designed for this bullet dimension.

What is the optimal engagement distance when handloading these 117 Grain Soft Point bullets for hunting?

These projectiles operate best at modest hunting distances ranging from 0 to 150 metres, with a factory Most Recommended Distance of 127 metres when loaded to a muzzle velocity around 650 m/s. Beyond 150 to 200 metres, bullet drop increases significantly to -29.7 cm and terminal energy drops below practical thresholds for medium game.

Do these reloading bullets require any special Australian electrical or safety certifications?

No, these are inert, non-powered metallic reloading components containing no electrical circuits, batteries, or wiring, which means electrical standards and SAA/RCM certifications are entirely inapplicable. However, purchasers must still comply with relevant Australian state and territory firearms legislation regarding the acquisition and storage of reloading components.

What case sizing tools and lubricants pair well when setting up handloads for this specific calibre?

When reloading classic calibres like the .25-35 Winchester, pairing your press with quality case care accessories such as Redding Imperial Sizing Die Wax helps ensure smooth case resizing and prevents stuck brass. Precision handloaders should always verify pressure ceilings using recognized reloading manuals specific to vintage lever-action and break-action platforms.

Reloading Bullets - S&B V338472

The Sellier & Bellot .257 Cal 117 Grain SP Bullet pack provides handloaders with purpose-built reloading projectiles for the classic .25-35 Winchester and European 6.5x52R cartridges. Engineered with a semi-jacketed soft point profile, each bullet combines an exposed lead core with a CuZn 10 brass-alloy jacket designed for uniform mushrooming and reliable terminal expansion on game. Supplied in a box of 100 components, these unprimed projectiles feature a true .257-inch diameter specifically shaped to match the feeding requirements and twist rates of classic sporting and lever-action rifles.

Key Features

Controlled Expansion: Utilises an exposed lead tip and drawn CuZn 10 jacket to deliver consistent expansion and high weight retention upon impact.
Cartridge-Specific Profile: Sized to an exact .257-inch diameter with an ogive tailored for vintage lever-action tubular magazines and European break-action platforms.
Aerodynamic Balance: Delivers a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.223 and a sectional density of 0.253 lb/in² for stable flight and penetration at moderate hunting velocities.
Bulk Reloading Supply: Packaged in quantities of 100 projectiles per box, yielding a total package weight of approximately 0.76 kg for bulk handloading batches.

Who is the S&B Sellier & Bellot .257 Cal (6.5x52r, 25/35 Win) 117 Grain Sp Bullets 100 Pack for?

Vintage lever-action handloaders — chambering classic .25-35 Winchester rifles benefit from this reloading soft point bullet's traditional .257 in profile and 117 grains weight, matching original chambering tolerances and magazine feeding limits.
European combination gun hunters — handloading for 6.5x52R break-action kipplauf or drilling rifles require this specific .257 in diameter soft point bullet to correctly match nominal bore dimensions rather than oversized standard European 6.5mm bores.
Short-to-medium range game hunters — targeting small-to-medium species at distances up to 150 metres rely on this 117 grains projectile's G1 = 0.223 ballistic envelope for dependable expansion and retained terminal energy.

Less suitable for: Target shooting or hunting engagements at distances beyond 150 metres, where high-ballistic-coefficient boat-tail spitzer projectiles are required to counter rapid trajectory drop; or for rifles with standard .264 in (6.5mm), .243 in, or .270 in bores that require strictly matched projectile diameters.
