The Sellier & Bellot .22 Short 28-Grain LRN Rimfire Ammunition delivers consistent, low-noise performance tailored for close-range target practice, casual plinking, and classic gallery shooting. Featuring a 27.8-grain (nominal 28-grain / 1.80-gram) graphite-coated Lead Round Nose projectile seated in a CuZn 30 brass case, this cartridge produces a mild muzzle velocity of approximately 984 fps (300 m/s) and a muzzle energy of 53 ft-lb (71 Joules) from a standard 600 mm test barrel. Engineered to tight manufacturing tolerances, propellant charges are controlled to within ±0.01 g and priming compounds to within ±0.002 g to ensure shot-to-shot consistency and minimal report.

Key Features

• Low-Velocity Ballistics: Achieves a muzzle velocity of 984 fps and a muzzle energy of 53 ft-lb, resulting in minimal muzzle report and negligible felt recoil.
• Precision Lead Round Nose: Features a graphite-coated 28-grain (1.80 g) lead slug held to a weight tolerance of ±0.02 g for predictable close-range flight.
• Quality Brass Casing: Loaded in durable CuZn 30 brass cases with consistent rim priming for reliable ignition in manually operated rimfire actions.
• Compact Packaging: Supplied in standard 50-round boxes, weighing approximately 0.14 kg per box.

Who is the Sellier & Bellot .22 Short 28 Grain LRN Ammunition for?

• Vintage and gallery firearm shooters — Requires ammunition built specifically for dedicated .22 Short or .22 S/L/LR marked chambers, providing a gentle 53 ft-lb muzzle energy impulse that prevents excessive wear on older actions.
• Short-range target plinkers — Benefits from the sub-1000 fps operating profile of this rimfire hunting ammunition, which keeps projectile speeds at 984 fps to minimise shooting noise across ranges up to 25 to 50 metres.

Less suitable for: Target engagements or hunting beyond 50 metres where the low 0.060 ballistic coefficient causes rapid drop, or for semi-automatic firearms requiring the cycling impulse of standard 40-grain .22 Long Rifle ammunition.
