What calibre and distance are the BDC holdovers on the Sightron S-TAC 1-6x24 AR1 reticle calibrated for?

The AR1 reticle features non-illuminated bullet drop compensation (BDC) lines specifically calibrated for standard .223 Rem / 5.56 NATO loads out to 600 yards, complete with 5 mph and 10 mph crosswind hold dots. For distances beyond 600 yards or when shooting non-5.56 calibres requiring precise long-range dialling, a First Focal Plane optic with higher magnification is recommended.

Does the Sightron S-TAC 1-6x24mm require any special Australian electrical certifications like SAA or RCM?

No, this is an unpowered mechanical optical scope that connects to no AC mains supply and carries no SAA or RCM regulatory obligations. The only electrical component is a low-voltage 3V CR2032 lithium coin cell used solely to power the 11 brightness settings of the illuminated reticle.

What mounting hardware do I need to attach this scope to my rifle?

The Sightron S-TAC 1-6x24mm features a 30mm main tube diameter and requires standard 30mm scope rings or a 30mm one-piece cantilever mount for proper installation on your firearm platform. It is fully shockproof up to 1,000 Gs, making it robust enough for heavy recoil and fast-paced field use.

How does the magnification adjustment work in the field for quick transitions?

The power ring includes a built-in, repositionable magnification throw fin that can be adjusted to up to 16 different positions. This design accommodates both left- and right-handed shooters seamlessly, allowing for rapid power changes from 1x to 6x without needing an aftermarket throw lever.

1-6x24 Riflescope - Sightron SI-26022 S-TAC

The Sightron S-TAC 1-6x24 IR AR1 Riflescope (model 26022) is a second focal plane low power variable optic built on a 30 mm main tube. Engineered for fast target engagement and medium-range precision, it pairs true 1x magnification for both-eyes-open shooting with an illuminated AR1 reticle featuring a centre dot, outer halo, and bullet drop compensation lines calibrated for standard .223 Rem / 5.56 NATO ballistics out to 600 yards. Built using Japanese optical glass with proprietary MC-333 multi-coatings, the scope delivers precise adjustments via low-profile capped turrets operating at 1/4 MOA per click across 100 MOA of total elevation travel. A patented ExacTrack erector system prevents reticle shift across extreme adjustments, while the nitrogen-purged body provides IPX7 waterproof and 1,000 G shockproof durability on high-recoil sporting rifles and Australian Category A/B carbines.

Key Features

Illuminated IR AR1 Reticle: Combines an illuminated CQB outer halo and centre dot with 11 brightness settings powered by a CR2032 coin cell, backed by non-illuminated 300 to 600-yard holdovers and 5 mph / 10 mph wind dots.
Repositionable Throw Fin: Factory-integrated throw fin mounts into up to 16 positions on the power ring for rapid magnification changes without aftermarket levers.
ExacTrack Erector System: Patented erector assembly maintains constant, uniform alignment pressure to eliminate point-of-impact shift.
Rugged Environmental Sealing: Tested shockproof to 1,000 Gs for 10,000 cycles, nitrogen-purged against internal fogging, and submersible up to 1 metre for 30 minutes (IPX7).

Who is the Sightron S-TAC 1-6x24 IR AR1 Riflescope for?

Scrub hunters and pest eradication shooters — handles running feral pigs and goats in thick cover using a true 1x magnification floor for both-eyes-open tracking, paired with a 24 mm objective lens and illuminated centre halo for fast target acquisition on lever-action or bolt-action scrub carbines.
Practical action shooters and tactical competitors — provides rapid point-and-shoot capability on close paper targets at 1x, while the 1-6x magnification range and 1/4 MOA per click turrets align with 5.56 NATO holdovers for rapid transition out to 600-yard gongs.

Less suitable for: Target engagement beyond 600 yards, where a higher-magnification first focal plane optic with an MOA or MRAD tree reticle provides better long-range resolution, or ultra-lightweight mountain hunting where a 300–450 g unilluminated hunting scope offers greater carry efficiency than this 22.4 oz optic.
